Can't go wrong with Dixie's. It's an oldie (although I have no idea how long it's been around) but goodie! It's got the usual brand of beer, wine, etc. and same goes for its menu (chicken wings, artichoke dip, burgers, salads and so on). In other words, basic. Nothing jumps out at you but sometimes that's exactly what I'm looking for depending on my mood. Servers are great! I was there twice this week and received solid service!!
The bar keep was attentive and friendly. I already ate at another restaurant prior to going but the menu items looked on par. I will definitely head back to try the food.
I order my food over the phone when I went to pick it up it was ready everything was good it was great experience
Delicious fried chicken. But the surprises were the grits and the crab bisque. Absolutely amazing. Coconut shrimp salad was average. I would have preferred a non fried option. Service was great.
Love, love the place! Super staff and food. Maybe some ok libations too!
Chicken ceasar salad is amazing. Chicken is juicy and lettuce is very fresh. Great service and atmosphere
This place looks fancy but has a wonderful inside with fair prices. Happy hour is very cheap. I had a good burger with tasty meat. There is a long variety of alcohols. Also, it has this mini train that moves on the top of the bar. It is funny. The service is good and fast.
Dixie's is really quiet around 2:00 on a Tuesday afternoon. However, the food and service were excellent! Dixie's is my all-time favorite.
Freaking amazing! Best fried chicken I've ever had! Ever!
The Hot Dixie Wings are really really spice. The burger was fine. They have coke products. The fries are below average beer battered cajun fries.Wished they still served BBQ.
Yum yum yum southern food not soul food ( there is a difference in my opinion) some of the best southern food I've had here on mn besides Revival I'd return As a semi vegetarian I found several options I could enjoy and that's always nice to be able to add another place to my list when I meet to eat with others that may want to enjoy barbecue and burgers The ambience was VERY nice with lots of small details in the decor I live for that type of thing so it makes meenjoy my visit even more We went on a late night date just before close and even though it was late the waitress was still attentive and had a good attitude
Food is average. Cajun fries aren’t my favorite side. The corn bread was descent though! Great service!
Never had a bad experience. Always delicious!
I had big hopes for this meal considering the reviews. Unfortunately, our entire meal with the exception of two sides were so heavily salted that it waas barely consumable. Very unfrotunate considering how much the cost of the meal was.
This was my first time visiting there. I must say it was a well rewarding experience. I had the cat fish, and the Gumbo. Both were very good. Nice atmosphere too.
Just delicious. Had pot roast burger, so good. Compliments!
Good customer service, drinks were great food was good.
Parking lot is full all the time. If you live close, just walk. The food is alright, a little over priced for what you get. Not the best "southern comfort" food I am had. It's Minnesota, not sure they get the whole southern comfort food concept. Good try though. And the lighting in there could be brighter.
Dixies happy hour slaps. I don't usually order food, but enjoy the people and nice service.
Food was ok, but it tasted even better when I added my hot sauce. They have a good happy hour with some good drinks.
Today my boyfriend and I decided to stop in for a late lunch to satisfy my craving for some southern food from back home. We had ordered “takeout” once before and were very pleased. Today our server was promptly smiling at our sides offering something other than the 2 waters she had just brought us. Sarah was bright, upbeat and very sweet. She really made us feel welcomed. The food was fantastic and full of flavor. We honestly look forward to stopping in again very soon. If Sarah is not our server next time, whom ever it is has some mighty big shoes to fill. Thanks to all the staff involved for making our experience so happily memorable.
Great Southern style food.Try Dixie's Swamp Burger -- 1/3 lb beef, cheese, pulled pork, fried egg, lettuce, deep fried onion rings on open faced bun -- comes with nicely seasoned fries -- more than enough to share.Great gumbo soup
My favorite place in the cities. Great service and great food. Great ambiance and atmosphere. Brings me back to the south Everytime, where I'm from. I typically bring everyone here! I've been here more times than any place in the cities. One of the best brunch spots in the twin cities! I recommend!
Went here for Happy Hour apps and drinks and everything was great. Highly recommend the loaded fries. The staff were very pleasant and we got everything promptly.
Hands down closest food ur getting to nola cajun amazingggg food their gumbo was phenomenal
Never a disappointment. The food is always amazing and the service is the best. Perfect if you want to have a drink or 2 at their beautiful bar or have a sit down dinner. Their food just melts in your mouth. A must try all sort of place.
We were on vacation from the South. I was looking for a taste of the south in while in MN. I found what I was looking for at Dixies on Grand. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered Shrip and Grits and it was delicious. In fact delicious is an understatement. I definitely recommend this place to anyone whose looking for a taste of the South in the Northern territory. (I accidentally deleted the pics of the food from my phone...sorry)
Very poor service. It took over an hour to get our food. We were warned about a wait but were told 20-25 minutes, not an hour. After about 50 minutes of sitting there without an update, we found someone to ask what was going on. Both the waiter and manager were extremely rude and argued with everything we said.By the time we got our food, half of it was piping hot while the other half had clearly been sitting out. The ribs sat out long enough for the barbecue sauce to harden. Yuck. After multiple conversations with the manager, she eventually told us the meal was on them and stomped away in a fit. There are so many fantastic restaurants within walking distance of this place, I recommend you find one of those. The food earned this place 2/5 stars, the service earned 0.
They have a great selection of food and drinks, and have great happy hour deals that go until 6pm. They do a great job bringing southern foods up north! The chicken fried steak was covered in too much gravy, but everything else I’ve had there has been wonderful!
Probably the best Sunday brunch buffet around. I am partial to any meal that offers both fried chicken and gumbo though!
Good food. Got the Cajun catfish po' boy, cheesy grits, cornbread and red beans and rice. The fries were just like Arby's curly fries. Pick some up here and grab Arby's sauce!
First time eating at Dixie's, it was awesome. I've had takeout from here before, and it was great, but the atmosphere and staff here are fantastic. We ordered the andouille po-boy, grits, gumbo, biscuits, and brisket sliders. Everything was fantastic, but my one suggestion is that the brisket sliders were kind of bland, and could really benefit from a sauce. Maybe BBQ? Otherwise perfect.
Nice and charming!
Good service & nice atmosphere. Loved the patio and the appetizers we had
Good stuff. Waiter was nice. Place was clean. Enjoyed my drink very much. Got a ButterBeer. Cheers!
One of my favorite places to get southern style food. Great drinks and service. They always impress. Their Brunch Buffet on the weekends is the BEST!!!
This is a fantastic restaurant! Some of the best wings I have ever had with the most flavorful sauce. The chicken sandwich was phenomenal, big serving and great flavors. I cannot wait to come back and try more on the menu.
What a flavorful experience...literally! I've found that it's hard to find a restaurant that naturally has flavor in the north. I have to add salt and pepper to almost everything...but not Dixie's! The food was great, the service was good and the vibe was just very chill and diverse. The shrimp and grits is AMAZING. The portion is perfect, the taste is on point and the shrimps are real!
I really enjoyed everything. The ambiance was amazing. Next time I'm going time try the Sunday Brunch.
Best Sunday brunch spot in the twin cities! Great food and good pricing
Excellent place and service. Drinks were good and service was professional and friendly. We did not eat but the plates looked really good. Nice easy off street parking that I imagine can get crowded at peak times or busy days. We were there early for a happy hour get together and everything was great. Great location and nice area as well.
Great outdoor breakfast! Took a friend visiting from London to eat. I had one of their special breakfast sandwiches, she had blacked fish and red beans and rice. My sandwich was good, but we were stuffed. We order fried green tomatoes which were excellent 👌she really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes it was her first time having them. The waitress was very friendly as well.
Only ordered some apps this time - pulled pork sliders, andouille baked beans and mac & cheese. The baked beans had great flavor but only about 3 pieces of sausage. The mac & cheese was underwhelming, lacking flavor and creaminess. The pork sliders on the other hand were incredible. Really nice staff and a good sized patio area.
I came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm with two others. The mimosas and A1: deliciousness is a gland and worth every penny and more--especially with 75¢ refills! While the brunch offerings are limited, the food they did was was tasty. The waitress was one of the best I've had: super attentive, friendly, honest about offerings and she also ensured that our glasses were never empty. If for no other reason, than the mimosas.
Great unique menu selections and the food was delicious.
This is the first restaurant in St. Paul that's really impressed me during my time here on business. Dixie features southern fare, mostly Cajun, and it's righteous. Legit catfish (although I had to make my own horseradish sauce) and a pretty good gumbo and jambalaya - tamed down some for the less adventurous palates of the Norwegians and Swedes that call Minnesota their home. (Lutefisk? Lefse? Pickled carp? Name three things that are more bland than oatmeal.) But I left pleasantly surprised and definitely satisfied.
The service was very very very slow... Don't expect to get in a Happy Hour order it it isn't 30 minutes before the end of it. That before said, and the reason for my 1 star deduction, they do make some very good food. Everything everybody got tasted home made. We all shared as it was that good. So I DO recommend going, just get there WAY BEFORE you need anything 🤔
Ordered out the seafood pasta and biscuits. The pasta was over cooked and overall wish it had more flavor. Overall not impressed. The pro was the biscuits- they were delicious! I recommend getting them warmed up before eating. They are perfectly soft and fluffy.
Great food and excellent service! This was the first time dining out since the start of Covid and I felt safe and throughly enjoyed it!
Sunday brunch is awesome! And, despite other reviews, as a vegetarian I have no trouble ordering food here. The staff has always been patient and understanding with us. We came in with a group that had a variety of dietary restrictions and each and every one of us was able to order something delicious. Also, 75 cent refills in your COMPLIMENTARY mimosa for brunch! Heck yeah!
